Gloomy Days & Good Eats ~ September 30th

Sorry I'm just updating again-- I wanted to post more this month, but things kept coming up! This past week (especially today!) has been the rainiest, gloomiest weather... it's downright depressing! I can't wait for the good fall weather that is coming soon! It is truly the best season in NYC! :)

On Tuesday I had a blogger meet-up with my friend, Melissa. We went to our usual spot in the Meatpacking District, Sea Thai Bistro.

I got my usual, the spring rolls & broad rice noodles with tofu.

We had a good time as always, and I'm sure we'll be back soon!

I've been under my usual stress and this weather doesn't help matters... it seems to trigger migraines in me, and the past few days have not been pretty. The other night I went to bed early and when I woke up I was starving, so I sat down to a proper breakfast at Friend of a Farmer.

I got their special, which includes scrambled eggs, home fries, french toast, and I opted for fruit instead of bacon, sausage, etc. I also treated myself to an amazing glass of fresh squeezed orange juice.

For lunch today I ordered in from Suzie's, a chinese restaurant in the village.

I got their bean curd homestyle (tofu) lunch special, which came with vegetarian wonton soup, rice, and a vegetarian egg roll.

And here are some photos of Peanut that I took...

In a new box, which he loves to lounge in!

Sneaking up on me in my room!

That cute little white mug of his always gets him out of trouble! lol

Anyways, here's hoping for a great fall! :)

Birthday Week! September 18th

Nearly everyone I know was born this past week in September, including my "ex" (now sort of "on again") boyfriend, and my mom. But first, I have a week's worth of food to post, so let's get started!

Last Saturday I had a really early meeting downtown for my job. So I stopped in a Dunkin' Donuts on Varick St. and got my favorite kind, a chocolate covered one with sprinkles!

When I finally got out of my meeting, I had a proper breakfast since by that time, it was already brunch/lunch. I got the french toast combo with scrambled eggs and soy sausage at Quantum Leap.

Some other eats this week include...

Pizza at Ray's... I went for dinner here last Sunday when a pipe broke in our kitchen and we had a leak-- obviously making it very hard to cook!

A quick lunch at Good Stuff Diner... my favorite combo: mozzarella sticks (which are truly the BEST mozzarella sticks I've ever had!) and a tropical health smoothie. :)

For a quick boost, one day I stopped in the Jamba Juice in Union Square and got their bright eyed and blueberry smoothie! Sadly though, this has really gone downhill... not nearly as good as it used to be! :(

Today was my mom's birthday... I ran some errands this morning and stopped in Rivioli Pizzeria in the West Village for lunch.

Then later on for dinner we went to an amazing new restaurant called Sagaponack Restaurant (named after Sagaponack in the Hamptons), at 22nd st. off 5th Ave. And this restaurant really did have a very "hamptons" feel. It was beautiful!

For starters I had their pesto fries... these were INCREDIBLE! I couldn't finish them all of course, because the portion was huge!

For my entree I got the portobello mushroom tower with lots of veggies and quinoa. This was amazing as well!

Mom and I got our desserts "to go" because we were so full! I got the banana cream pie, and the funny thing is, I don't even like bananas (as in, I don't ever eat the fruit by itself), but this is the one banana themed food I like!

As for Peanut, I recently got him a new toy at Petco. Glow in the dark balls to keep him occupied at night!

So Happy Birthday to Mom and everyone else this week!

Finally Feels Like Fall! September 9th

I don't know about you, but I am SO glad that this horrible hot weather has come to an end. I walked down into Soho today and it was so beautiful out! I happened to see Heidi Klum's mother too, pushing Heidi's new baby girl, Lou in a stroller. lol I almost ALWAYS see famous people in Soho. But the amazing thing about NYC is that everyone just blends in!

I was picking up some birthday presents today at my favorite store in the city, Pearl River Mart. This is a HUGE, beautiful store, with great prices and nearly everything is hand made! There is no other store I can think of like it. Nearly everyone I know is born in September, including my mother, so it's definitely a busy month for me!

I always have to stop in Famous Ben's pizzeria every time I'm downtown. :)

But lately I've been eating asian food 24/7! Here is the proof:

Lunch at Spice (last weekend I went to the one in Union Square).

Spring rolls & broad rice noodle with tofu.

An oldie, but a goodie... my favorites from Wild Ginger...

Take-out from a new thai restaurant called Tue Thai Food (on Greenwich Ave. by 6th Ave. & West 8th St.).

I got their $9 lunch special, which is a great bargain and includes choice of appetizer, entree, and drink!

I tried their spring rolls, pad se ew (which is basically the same dish as the one I got at Spice, above), and a coke. I really like this place, and I read such bad things about their delivery, and I don't know if it's because I live pretty close by or not, but they were lightning fast!!!

The one thing I'll miss about summer is of course, frozen yogurt. On the last hot day we had I made a short trip over to Pinkberry.

I got a medium original with strawberries, cookies & cream, and brownie chunks! :)

Here are a few recent pics of Peanut... the first ones are of him monkeying around in my room (his favorite activity!).

And sleeping with Pellet (his beanie baby).

Tonight for dinner I actually cooked with tofu (the packaged kind that you have to drain yourself) for the first time in my life, and Peanut went nuts! For some reason he loves tofu (and the seasoning from Fantastic Foods Tofu Scrambler), and he was rolling around by my plate (as you can see)! lol

(Oh and those are Morningstar Farms soy sausages btw!)

I'll probably be updating more soon with all the birthday dinners, etc. So stay tuned!
