Valentine's Day Blues & Brunch ~ February 13th

I am definitely not in the Valentine's Day spirit this year after the fiascos with my "boyfriend." I was half tempted to title this post "F*** Valentine's Day!" lol But that wouldn't be fair to all of you wishing to enjoy your holiday. :) Oh well, Peanut will be my valentine this year. And I know all of you are jealous... he's young, great looking, and doesn't make me watch sports. :) In fact, I was in CVS the other day and found this valentine that reminded me of him...

It has a dismal amount of candy in it, but the kitten looks like Peanut, so I got it anyway! (Note Peanut in the background. :)

I went to Qi Asian Eatery (one of my favorite places) the other day. It has really become quite popular since it opened last fall. Around 1 o'clock the place was PACKED. The lunch specials are an amazing value at around $7 with free appetizer... I got my usual, spring rolls and pineapple fried rice with tofu.

Mom and I ordered pizza from Pomodoro last night...

Today I had the pleasure of having brunch with Melissa (from Missy Maintains) and Maggie (from Say Yes to Salad). Maggie and I have wanted to meet for a while now, so the three of us decided to meet up at Blossom for brunch. I was pretty sure that I was going to get the french toast again (see here), but I happened to see someone else eating the tofu scramble, and it looked so good that all 3 of us ended up getting it!

You had a choice of greens or fries, so being that I usually say no to salad (play on words here lol), I opted for the fries and wasn't disappointed! All of us really liked the tofu scramble and I was glad that I tried something different for a change!

After brunch Maggie and I decided to go over to the Chelsea Whole Foods that was nearby. We did some shopping and I got this vegan cupcake. It was tasty, although I ended up mainly eating the top of it!

For dinner Mom made a favorite of mine, eggplant parmesan with spaghetti.

For my snack tonight I decided to make my almond parfait, which consists of a plain fage 0% yogurt, mixed with maple syrup & a dash of vanilla extract, slivered almonds, chocolate chips, and topped with amber agave nectar.

And my baby Peanut turns 11 months old today! Here are some recent pics of him going about his day! :)

In the bathtub, a favorite spot of his to play.

Using the litter box. Perhaps a little too personal of a pic, but it's so cute how he always perches the same foot up on the edge of the box! lol

Drinking peach yogurt smoothie out of the cap... he loves peach flavored things!

On top of the unopened boxes we still have not gotten rid of from our "move."

Ok everyone, enjoy your Valentine's Day and the long weekend!

Snowy Eats ~ February 10th

Well, the blizzard wasn't *quite* as bad as they were making it out to be. But still, we got a lot of snow here in NY and it's not done yet! My head cold is almost gone now, but I didn't feel well last night and I went to bed really early. So that meant that I got up super early this morning (around 5 a.m.) and watched the storm develop out my window. lol At daylight this was what I saw out my window.

For breakfast I decided to make stuffed french toast... This time I used peanut butter instead of the cream cheese concoction (see here).

I used 2 pieces of Trader Joe's french toast and Skippy Natural crunchy peanut butter for something different. Then I topped it with Trader Joe's maple syrup. (I only wish I had berries, but I was out!) I also wish that I was able to finish a breakfast like this early in the morning, but alas...

For lunch I made an egg mcmuffin with a sandwich size english muffin, egg whites, and american cheese. I had some baked ruffles alongside.

For my snacks today I had...

An oatmeal raisin walnut Clif Bar (I can't figure out why the lighting is a little weird in this photo, but oh well).

And I nibbled a bit on this AMAZING chocolate bar I found at Whole Foods!

Divine's milk chocolate bar with hazelnuts! :)

For dinner I had mini wagon wheel pasta with veggies in a sauce of olive oil, sherry, and a little garlic, with parmesan cheese on top.

For my snack tonight I had a pineapple Chobani yogurt (I had forgotten how awesome this flavor is!) and a small bowl of Cheerios (I eat them dry, without milk just like you would popcorn or chips!).

Peanut was fascinated by the snow and looked out the window at it some. But he went about his day as usual...

In this last pic doesn't Peanut look like my peanut butter stuffed french toast?! :)

So far the new phone is working out great and it's surprisingly easy to use! Thanks for all the comments on the last post (and remember to check back, because I do try to answer your questions in the comments!).

Happy Ending! February 8th

Okay, so this is not the happy ending I was originally looking for, but it's happy none the less! Sadly after sitting in rice for nearly 2 days, my poor old Motorola V360 would not come back to life. So alas, I had to head over to the nearest T-Mobile store (which is actually conveniently up the block from me!) to check out some new phones. I ended up getting the Samsung Comeback in pearl white plum. I was able to keep my same number and plan. Unfortunately though, even though the SIM card in my old cell phone was not damaged, it pretty much didn't store a damn thing! So I had to re-enter numbers and I have a LOT of pictures to upload to the new phone! But the good news is, I LOVE this phone. It's easy to use, adorable, and it's basically like a mini computer and a digital camera all rolled into one!! So that means my pics will be even better quality now! :) And the best news yet, is since I've been a loyal T-Mobile customer, they gave me a $300 phone for around $60 bucks! (I have to mail in a rebate to get $50 back, but still, an amazing deal!) Here are the pics of the new phone...

Front view.

View of the phone when it is open.

All and all, as much as I miss my old phone I'm kind of glad this happened, because had it not truly been an act of God, I never would have gotten rid of it! lol And technology has come a long way in over 4 years. The texting and in general, typing is WAY easier on this phone, since you have a mini computer keyboard. Plus it's lightning fast... I'm still getting used to the camera feature though, but I decided to test out my phone tonight.

Here's my dinner...

Penne in a sauce with olive oil, red wine, and a little garlic, with sun-dried tomatoes, peas, and mushrooms. I like many versions of this dinner, and you can use anything... sherry, white wine, red wine, etc.

And Peanut...

Notice how clear these pictures are?! They really show how orange Peanut's coat is, and how white his white parts are! lol :)

He's getting to be such a big boy now... he's almost 11 months old!!! Where did the time go?!

Thanks for all the well wishes on my phone fiasco. Luckily though, I think it turned out for the best. You know, I'm not one to handle change well. I don't like it and I avoid it when I can. I'm not one of these people who runs to the Apple store to be the first one in line whenever Steve Jobs unveils a new gadget. I'm the type of person that only gets a new gadget when my old one breaks down! lol

What type of person are you when it comes to all the new technology out there?

P.S. ~ I forgot to mention the Superbowl! I'm happy the Saints won, being that one of my best friends is from New Orleans, plus Reggie Bush is hot! :)
