Computer Saga! March 8th & 9th

After 2 failed repairs over the last 2 years on my black Macbook from 2006, I guess you could say 3 times wasn't the charm in this case! Here's my story: So yesterday morning I was on my computer like normal, I shut it, then went out. When I came back in the afternoon I opened my computer and it wouldn't turn on! I tried everything, called Apple support, etc. So I brought it down to the good old Apple store in Soho, and a "Mac Genius" took me very quickly without an appointment! They tried everything, but the up-shot was, I would have to spend hundreds of dollars in repairs that may or may not work, or buy a new computer. After a long decision process, spending nearly the entire afternoon in the store, I chose the latter and I got a new Macbook. They only make it in white now and it comes with built in Snow Leopard. So I had to put a THOUSAND dollars on my credit card yesterday! I nearly wept! But they were merciful and took a whopping $29 off my bill for returning the Snow Leopard cd I never used. Am I happy I had to buy a new computer? No. But is this computer better than the last one? Hell yes! It does make slightly different noise than I'm used to, because the hard drive sometimes makes a faint clicking sound rather than the fan noise my last one made (and this is due to the fact that it's a fancy, big hard drive and this Macbook is thinner than my last one). Still, over all, I'm pleased. It's funny how all my old technology burned out this year though. I got the new cell phone on February 8th, and now a new computer on March 8th. Life is funny that way!

Here's my old black Macbook...

And the new white one...

Now, on to the eats!

Everyone has been telling me to try these vegan "donut holes" for a while now. When I saw them on sale at Whole Foods this week, I decided to go for it! I got cinnamon and they taste just like cinnamon munchkins. Only these are WAY healthier than the ones at Dunkin' Doughnuts! I'll be buying these again ASAP! :)

Yesterday before the computer fiasco, I got in lunch at Spice in Chelsea.

I got the vegetarian steamed dumplings. They come in a "plum" sauce and I think they're pretty good. Although Wild Ginger's are better (which by the way, I'm still working on a date for our meet-up, so bare with me!).

I got my usual entree, broad black noodles with tofu. I could eat this nearly every day it's so good!

I picked up an adorable Easter goodie yesterday too! It's the "Baby Binks" mini chocolate bunny. I got it for only 79 cents at Rite Aid!

Today I had lunch at Famous Ray's Pizzeria in Greenwich Village. This has become my favorite lunch to have lately... pizza and a coke. Not healthy by any means, but it's what I've been craving lately, so I get it maybe once or twice a week.

I saw a review for this yogurt on my friend's blog here. I was so glad I got it! This is seriously the most delicious yogurt I've ever tried! It tastes like a dessert, and I suppose it has the calories of one (250 for 6 oz.), but it's worth it!

And I'll leave you with Peanut rolling around!

So in light of my recent computer fiasco, it makes me want to ask all of you, how long do your computers usually last? Mine only lasted 3 and a half years. :( Still, with Mac's I don't get any viruses, at least not yet! *knocks on wood*

Weekend Eats & Peanuts! March 5th - 7th

I've been feeling a bit better, although I had another migraine last night, but it's been more manageable. Peanut's first birthday is this coming Saturday if you can believe it! I have lots of pics of him that I'll post below, but first, the eats...

For lunch on Friday I had my usual at Qi Asian Eatery... spring rolls & pineapple fried rice.

For dinner I had pasta with veggies and a new great find, Alexia's french rolls! These are amazing and you can heat them up in only 10 minutes in the oven!

My dinner last night was one of my favorites, eggplant parmesan and spaghetti.

This morning I woke up early and made some cinnamon buns-- nothing fancy, just the Pillsbury kind. They look good though, don't they? :)

I had a late lunch/brunch at a place I'd been wanting to try in Chelsea, called East of Eighth (which is on West 23rd St. just off 8th Ave.).

They gave me a nice bread basket, and while the picture is of a muffin with jam, I actually ended up eating the Italian bread with butter instead because it was much fresher and nicer quality.

I decided to get their three egg omelette. It came with hash browns and choice of 2 fillings. I chose mushrooms and cheddar cheese. It also came with a complimentary drink, and I opted for orange juice instead of the alcoholic ones they were offering. Overall, I thought this place was very good.

Like I said, Peanut is almost a year old already, and he's growing up to be such a handsome boy! Here he is in the bathroom (which is really his play room, because he's in there all the time!).

Sleeping in his carrier... he used to be SO tiny in this carrier (see here!).

In every kitties favorite, the laundry!

And my favorite pic, Peanut kissing mummy! :)

Is anyone watching the Oscars tonight? I guess I'm the only person left who hasn't seen Avatar and doesn't care to. lol Still, Steve Martin is co-hosting this year, and that is worth seeing!

Blog Award & Questions ~ March 2nd

I'd like to thank the lovely Gabriela at the Une Vie Saine blog for passing on the Honest Scrap Award to me!! :)

Here are the questions that Gabriela has tagged me to answer!

Best Meal Ever: This is so hard! I've had so many amazing vegetarian meals here in Manhattan, but I'd have to say that the most incredible meal I've ever had was in Disney World!

Best Sleep Ever: When I was little on a camping trip and I was the only one to sleep through a GIGANTIC storm. I only wish I could sleep that well now!

Best Cup of Coffee: I don't drink it, if you can believe it!

Best Romantic Moment: When my boyfriend was giving me a tour of his neighborhood... It was a full moon, a beautiful night, and he was using a straw as his "pointer" that he had picked up at the restaurant we were at! lol It was adorable, actually. It's a toss up between that, and our first kiss.

Best Childhood Memory: Getting my then kitten, Cloudy (you can see more about Cloudy here).

Best Moment of Life: I'd like to think it hasn't happened yet, and the best is yet to come! (I can't believe I'm being positive for once! lol)

Best Moment of Revenge: Ha! This is a good one. Our upstairs neighbors last year were REAL pains in the asses! They had the nerve to complain they could hear us "talking," when it sounded like a heard of elephants above us! So one day when they were being really loud I called the management company and got one of the building's managers on the phone. I held the phone up to the ceiling and got those b******s in big trouble!! LOL!

Best Thing You Have Ever Done for Someone: I can't put my finger on one particular thing, but I love to help people who are struggling with eating disorders. I know how hard it is to go at it on your own, so I like to help when I can!

Best Life Changing Moment: Adopting little Peanut last year! :)

In other news... I've been having the same old, same old when it comes to my eats (which is why I didn't bother posting pictures). I've been getting a lot of migraines lately too which have put me off food, and I went to the doctor yesterday to get my old migraine medicine prescription re-filled (since I haven't needed my meds in so long!). I have a physical coming up at the end of the month though, so hopefully they will figure out what's wrong. But I wouldn't hold my breath-- doctors are SO clueless when it comes to stuff. I know, because I have a history of migraines on and off over the years and no one has been able to figure out why I get headaches when I do! But my hormones have been totally out of whack ever since I went on, then came off the birth control pill, so I think that's what triggered my migraines again. :(
Can anyone relate?
