Happy Mother's Day! May 9th

I hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day and spent time with their mommies! I know I did. :) It really is remarkable how much mothers do! I know I'm always amazed! Here are my eats from this weekend...

Yesterday I had my usual lunch at Qi Asian Eatery. It's really convenient living so close to this place! lol

Afterwards I stopped by Baked By Melissa (their new Union Square location, which happens to be right down the block from Qi!). I just HAD to try their new pancake flavor (that I found out about through my friend, Missy's blog). Plus, I was in luck because they had a few special Mother's Day flavors as well! :)

Cupcakes from left to right: cinnamon, cookie dough, chocolate chip pancake, peanut butter cup, red velvet cake, and a special edition Mother's Day one (chocolate with vanilla frosting). I really liked the new pancake one!

For dinner last night I had Mom's eggplant parmesan. :)

And dessert was a cheesecake blondie that I got from Whole Foods the other day...

This morning I made Mom breakfast... cinnamon rolls!

For lunch I had a Trader Joe's spinach and mushroom quiche...

Notice one of Mom's Mother's Day presents in the pic. The ladybug timer! We needed a new one and I found it one day at Pearl River Mart (one of my favorite stores :).

For dinner we tried an Italian restaurant down the block from us called Gene's. It's on West 11th St. off 6th Ave. in Greenwich Village. It was supposed to be good, being that it was there since 1919! I got the penne alla vodka.

Unfortunately, much like my Mom's dish, I found it bland and almost "watered down." Not very good. Oh well!

And let us not forget that I am too, a mother. A pet mother. :) Peanut was reluctant to take his "Mommy and Me" picture today. lol

But he was a "ham" for the camera later! I LOVE this pic of him. He's actually smiling!! :)

I hope everyone had a nice weekend! :)

Weekend Eats & Peanuts! March 5th - 7th

I've been feeling a bit better, although I had another migraine last night, but it's been more manageable. Peanut's first birthday is this coming Saturday if you can believe it! I have lots of pics of him that I'll post below, but first, the eats...

For lunch on Friday I had my usual at Qi Asian Eatery... spring rolls & pineapple fried rice.

For dinner I had pasta with veggies and a new great find, Alexia's french rolls! These are amazing and you can heat them up in only 10 minutes in the oven!

My dinner last night was one of my favorites, eggplant parmesan and spaghetti.

This morning I woke up early and made some cinnamon buns-- nothing fancy, just the Pillsbury kind. They look good though, don't they? :)

I had a late lunch/brunch at a place I'd been wanting to try in Chelsea, called East of Eighth (which is on West 23rd St. just off 8th Ave.).

They gave me a nice bread basket, and while the picture is of a muffin with jam, I actually ended up eating the Italian bread with butter instead because it was much fresher and nicer quality.

I decided to get their three egg omelette. It came with hash browns and choice of 2 fillings. I chose mushrooms and cheddar cheese. It also came with a complimentary drink, and I opted for orange juice instead of the alcoholic ones they were offering. Overall, I thought this place was very good.

Like I said, Peanut is almost a year old already, and he's growing up to be such a handsome boy! Here he is in the bathroom (which is really his play room, because he's in there all the time!).

Sleeping in his carrier... he used to be SO tiny in this carrier (see here!).

In every kitties favorite, the laundry!

And my favorite pic, Peanut kissing mummy! :)

Is anyone watching the Oscars tonight? I guess I'm the only person left who hasn't seen Avatar and doesn't care to. lol Still, Steve Martin is co-hosting this year, and that is worth seeing!

Valentine's Day Blues & Brunch ~ February 13th

I am definitely not in the Valentine's Day spirit this year after the fiascos with my "boyfriend." I was half tempted to title this post "F*** Valentine's Day!" lol But that wouldn't be fair to all of you wishing to enjoy your holiday. :) Oh well, Peanut will be my valentine this year. And I know all of you are jealous... he's young, great looking, and doesn't make me watch sports. :) In fact, I was in CVS the other day and found this valentine that reminded me of him...

It has a dismal amount of candy in it, but the kitten looks like Peanut, so I got it anyway! (Note Peanut in the background. :)

I went to Qi Asian Eatery (one of my favorite places) the other day. It has really become quite popular since it opened last fall. Around 1 o'clock the place was PACKED. The lunch specials are an amazing value at around $7 with free appetizer... I got my usual, spring rolls and pineapple fried rice with tofu.

Mom and I ordered pizza from Pomodoro last night...

Today I had the pleasure of having brunch with Melissa (from Missy Maintains) and Maggie (from Say Yes to Salad). Maggie and I have wanted to meet for a while now, so the three of us decided to meet up at Blossom for brunch. I was pretty sure that I was going to get the french toast again (see here), but I happened to see someone else eating the tofu scramble, and it looked so good that all 3 of us ended up getting it!

You had a choice of greens or fries, so being that I usually say no to salad (play on words here lol), I opted for the fries and wasn't disappointed! All of us really liked the tofu scramble and I was glad that I tried something different for a change!

After brunch Maggie and I decided to go over to the Chelsea Whole Foods that was nearby. We did some shopping and I got this vegan cupcake. It was tasty, although I ended up mainly eating the top of it!

For dinner Mom made a favorite of mine, eggplant parmesan with spaghetti.

For my snack tonight I decided to make my almond parfait, which consists of a plain fage 0% yogurt, mixed with maple syrup & a dash of vanilla extract, slivered almonds, chocolate chips, and topped with amber agave nectar.

And my baby Peanut turns 11 months old today! Here are some recent pics of him going about his day! :)

In the bathtub, a favorite spot of his to play.

Using the litter box. Perhaps a little too personal of a pic, but it's so cute how he always perches the same foot up on the edge of the box! lol

Drinking peach yogurt smoothie out of the cap... he loves peach flavored things!

On top of the unopened boxes we still have not gotten rid of from our "move."

Ok everyone, enjoy your Valentine's Day and the long weekend!

December Eats (thus far...) December 5th

Been busy this week, but I wanted to do some blogging this weekend... today I decided to post some of my eats from the past few days, and tomorrow I'm planning on going over to Rockefeller Center to see the tree (and have brunch there too!). So what else has been going on? Things are not over with the boyfriend, and are apparently just on hold... his life has pretty much fallen apart, so I'm cutting him some slack. I know he feels bad, and that he wishes he could be having fun with me instead of dealing with all these problems. Unless something turns around for either one of us soon, I do not foresee a happy holiday... :( But enough of bringing everybody down! For starters, here's some Christmas cheer...

The beautifully decorated tree in our building's lobby. :)

Now on to the eats!

Lunch at Cafe Bari in Soho... I've been here several times over the years, and the food is still great, but I was really disappointed that they've raised their prices and actually give you less food for the money now!! Sadly unless they lower the prices, I will not be returning anytime soon. It's a shame, because their vodka penne (or in this case, rigatoni) with mozzarella is excellent! (But to charge $3.95 for mozzarella is ABSURD. Shame on them!!)

THE best cheesecake in Manhattan... at Chat 'n Chew.

Half of a pita with veggie chik'n strips and cheese, and some of Alexia's delicious golden potato nuggets (otherwise known as tater tots!). Where did the other half of this pita go, you ask? On the floor! Yup, you heard me right. I dropped it and it shattered. Oh well. It was still enough food.

Trader Joe's fabulous broccoli & cheddar quiche!

Mom's delicious eggplant parmesan with spaghetti.

And on to the daily Peanut pic...

Peanut playing on a Trader Joe's bag on my bed. I've never seen a cat like paper more than Peanut. Sometimes he plays with paper ON paper! lol

Please check back tomorrow, because I should be updating again after I go see the tree! (One of the advantages to living right here in NYC!)
