Finally Feels Like Fall! September 9th

I don't know about you, but I am SO glad that this horrible hot weather has come to an end. I walked down into Soho today and it was so beautiful out! I happened to see Heidi Klum's mother too, pushing Heidi's new baby girl, Lou in a stroller. lol I almost ALWAYS see famous people in Soho. But the amazing thing about NYC is that everyone just blends in!

I was picking up some birthday presents today at my favorite store in the city, Pearl River Mart. This is a HUGE, beautiful store, with great prices and nearly everything is hand made! There is no other store I can think of like it. Nearly everyone I know is born in September, including my mother, so it's definitely a busy month for me!

I always have to stop in Famous Ben's pizzeria every time I'm downtown. :)

But lately I've been eating asian food 24/7! Here is the proof:

Lunch at Spice (last weekend I went to the one in Union Square).

Spring rolls & broad rice noodle with tofu.

An oldie, but a goodie... my favorites from Wild Ginger...

Take-out from a new thai restaurant called Tue Thai Food (on Greenwich Ave. by 6th Ave. & West 8th St.).

I got their $9 lunch special, which is a great bargain and includes choice of appetizer, entree, and drink!

I tried their spring rolls, pad se ew (which is basically the same dish as the one I got at Spice, above), and a coke. I really like this place, and I read such bad things about their delivery, and I don't know if it's because I live pretty close by or not, but they were lightning fast!!!

The one thing I'll miss about summer is of course, frozen yogurt. On the last hot day we had I made a short trip over to Pinkberry.

I got a medium original with strawberries, cookies & cream, and brownie chunks! :)

Here are a few recent pics of Peanut... the first ones are of him monkeying around in my room (his favorite activity!).

And sleeping with Pellet (his beanie baby).

Tonight for dinner I actually cooked with tofu (the packaged kind that you have to drain yourself) for the first time in my life, and Peanut went nuts! For some reason he loves tofu (and the seasoning from Fantastic Foods Tofu Scrambler), and he was rolling around by my plate (as you can see)! lol

(Oh and those are Morningstar Farms soy sausages btw!)

I'll probably be updating more soon with all the birthday dinners, etc. So stay tuned!

An Update... Finally! June 28th

Sorry I've been gone for so long, but this summer I'm going to be taking long breaks from blogging! I am focusing on other things, but I did want to give you guys an "update!" Peanut is doing well, he just had his annual check-up the other day (June 24th) and the vet said that he is "perfect." He was a very good boy and made his Mummy proud. :) And here's a tip for pet owners: get your pet used to their carrier when they're very young so they won't fight you when they have to go somewhere! Peanut loves his carrier so much, he goes in there by himself to sleep sometimes!

As far as my eats go, here are some "highlights"...

I went through a french toast phase...

I got the vanilla bean french toast at Jane (which I've been to once before). It was okay, but the crust was a little too crispy and the middle was a little too soft. And it was SO crowded there on the Sunday I went I actually had to sit at the bar or wait over 30 minutes for a table!

And I got french toast for breakfast at Friend of a Farmer one day...

Actually the breakfast came with eggs, french toast, and instead of sausages or whatever I opted for fruit. This is a great hang-over breakfast! Because I really felt a million times better after eating it!! And their french toast was AMAZING!

A home made brunch...

An egg white omelette with mushrooms and american cheese, and a yogurt parfait with Kashi GoLean Crunch, strawberries, blueberries, and Fage 2% yogurt (with maple syrup added in). I couldn't finish the yogurt by a long shot... the Kashi GoLean Crunch is very filling!

And with this TERRIBLY hot weather we've been having here in NY, I've been eating a LOT of frozen treats!

A Pinkberry frozen yogurt with oreos & strawberries.

My favorite ice cream EVER... Edy's "Take the Cake!" This is fantastic and it doesn't even have a lot of calories and fat! (And making your own cones at home is cheaper!)

And my beloved strawberry fruit bars (Whole Foods "365" brand).

Here's a new product I came across the other day... Clif's new granola bars! These aren't even in most stores yet, but I found them in Bed, Bath, & Beyond of all places! I got the chocolate chip flavor.

I thought they were pretty good. They remind me of the Nature Valley ones... you get 2 in a pack, they're very crunchy/crumbly, and they have a honey taste to them.

I don't know when I'll be updating again, but enjoy your summer folks, and I'll leave you with something to "chew" on! lol

I don't even know what Peanut was chewing on in this picture, but it's cute none the less! :)

Happy St. Patrick's Day! March 17th

So I'm not Irish, but I wore green anyway today! I could use a little Irish luck actually... Anyways, I have quite a few eats to post, so let's get started!

A boca "chik'n" patty on a bun with cheese, some baked ruffles, and a peach medley apple sauce.

Mom made some homemade vegetarian minestrone soup and I got us some Italian bread to go with it.

I tried some more of these terrific Liberte yogurts! The plum & walnut was excellent, and the strawberry was good too. Although I still think the apple crumble one is the best!

I made some cinnamon buns this weekend that I picked up from Whole Foods. I saw these on my friend's blog and had to try them. They were REALLY good, even better than the Pillsbury ones!

I tried this new "Blueberry Bliss" Luna bar this morning. I wasn't really in the mood, so that could be the reason I wasn't wild about it, but it had too much of a strong artificial taste to me... it was very similar to the "Blueberry Bliss" Luna Sunrise bar actually.

I had a "green" lunch for St. Patty's Day... well, that wasn't really the reason. I noticed that it was very "green" after I already had ordered it! It was a pasta dish that I got at Trattoria Spaghetto, an Italian restaurant in the Village (at Bleecker St. & Carmine). It was basically penne pasta with broccoli, zucchini, in an olive oil sauce.

Tonight for "dinner" (yes I'm going to hell in a handbasket! lol) I had a Pinkberry yogurt with oreos & strawberries! It's "that time of the month" and I could hardly choke anything down today that's why... speaking of which, does anyone else always get their period on holidays?! I swear to God I do! My last one was on my birthday too! (Sorry if this is tmi, but I figure mostly women read my blog anyway!)

And the good folks at the new Galaxy Granola company sent me some samples of their granola! The UPS man delivered it today (Peanut always LOVES it when the UPS delivers a new box for him to play in! lol). Anyways, I'll be doing reviews soon of the granola. Can't wait to try it! My Mom has dibs on the raspberry one! lol I'll be trying the vanilla ones!

Speaking of Peanut and the UPS man, here he is enjoying one of the new boxes that came today! :)

I got a really cool accessory for my computer that I want to rave about! It's a cover for my new Macbook... I got it in purple (my favorite color) but it comes in lots of cool colors! The company iPearl makes these for different computers, and they even throw in a free keyboard cover too! The new white Macbooks (the October 2009 model) sort of need a cover because the outside is not the same rubbery material as the old Macbooks (like my 2006 black one). I highly recommend it (especially since with shipping the whole thing was under $30!).

I hope everyone had a nice holiday, and btw Peanut "thanks" everyone for the birthday wishes!

Oh and lastly as you can see (on the right hand side of the blog), I've finally set a date for the Wild Ginger meet-up! It will be on Sunday, April 11th at 12:30 p.m. If any of my other fellow New Yorkers (or visiting New Yorkers!) want to attend, please e-mail me!

Daily Eats ~ July 1st

I can't believe it's July 1st already! I've never been a fan of the summer, especially in NYC... the hot, humid, rainy weather, all the bad smells, etc. Sorry to be a downer, but I can't wait for fall! I am looking forward to going out to the Hamptons though. We can't stay a whole week like we did last year, but my parents and I will be going out for at least a day this month, and maybe next month too. When our lease is up at the end of this year/beginning of next year, we're thinking of moving out there. I really miss Long Island, especially in the summer! Anyways, here's...

Breakfast:
I had an Apple & Eve apple juice box with an Apple Cinnamon Tea Loaf that I got from Fairway Market. I cut the loaf in half and spread peanut butter on each end. I wasn't wild about this breakfast, so I just had a bit.

Lunch:
I had an Amy's Spinach Feta in a Pocket Sandwich with a Mott's Peach Medley apple sauce.

Peanut came running for the apple sauce, as usual! lol

I also felt like I needed a little something sweet after lunch, so I had a small Cadbury "Snack" chocolate bar that I got from Fairway the other day...

Snack:
I finally got my Pinkberry Fruit Parfait! :) To my shock and astonishment, it only cost $3.95 ($4.28 with tax!). I was prepared for the worst-- like $7! Thank God they had the sense, especially in this economy, to charge less for it. And you know what? This is a TERRIFIC value-- better than anything else you could get at Pinkberry. You get a good amount of yogurt, plus granola and lots of delicious fruits! (Considering Pinkberry usually charges $11 a topping, this is a damn good value! lol I'm exaggerating of course, but it is pretty bad.) I thought it was very good and hit the spot on this humid day. (As you can see, Peanut enjoyed a taste as well!)

Dinner:
I've had a bad headache nearly all day (this humid summer weather has always caused headaches for me), and when I get like this I prefer more breakfast type items for dinner. So I made my last 2 slices of Trader Joe's French Toast, spread a thin layer of Nutella on one of them, made a sandwich out of it, then drizzled some TJ's maple syrup over it and topped it with berries. Nutella french toast is the best, folks! I highly recommend it!!

Snack:
I just had a Naked Juice and a handful of Blue Diamond Cinnamon Almonds (not pictured).

Still have a headache... and I was busy self tanning tonight (I'm so sick of being sickly white!). I have my THIRD job interview with Sephora tomorrow, so hopefully I'll be working at their Soho store soon... I got my new Ella Moss dress that I got on sale in the mail today too. :) So I'll be wearing it tomorrow... for anyone who's interested, this is what it looks like (I have some black spanx leggings that I'll be wearing with it similar to the look in the picture):
