Weekend Eats & Peanuts! March 5th - 7th

I've been feeling a bit better, although I had another migraine last night, but it's been more manageable. Peanut's first birthday is this coming Saturday if you can believe it! I have lots of pics of him that I'll post below, but first, the eats...

For lunch on Friday I had my usual at Qi Asian Eatery... spring rolls & pineapple fried rice.

For dinner I had pasta with veggies and a new great find, Alexia's french rolls! These are amazing and you can heat them up in only 10 minutes in the oven!

My dinner last night was one of my favorites, eggplant parmesan and spaghetti.

This morning I woke up early and made some cinnamon buns-- nothing fancy, just the Pillsbury kind. They look good though, don't they? :)

I had a late lunch/brunch at a place I'd been wanting to try in Chelsea, called East of Eighth (which is on West 23rd St. just off 8th Ave.).

They gave me a nice bread basket, and while the picture is of a muffin with jam, I actually ended up eating the Italian bread with butter instead because it was much fresher and nicer quality.

I decided to get their three egg omelette. It came with hash browns and choice of 2 fillings. I chose mushrooms and cheddar cheese. It also came with a complimentary drink, and I opted for orange juice instead of the alcoholic ones they were offering. Overall, I thought this place was very good.

Like I said, Peanut is almost a year old already, and he's growing up to be such a handsome boy! Here he is in the bathroom (which is really his play room, because he's in there all the time!).

Sleeping in his carrier... he used to be SO tiny in this carrier (see here!).

In every kitties favorite, the laundry!

And my favorite pic, Peanut kissing mummy! :)

Is anyone watching the Oscars tonight? I guess I'm the only person left who hasn't seen Avatar and doesn't care to. lol Still, Steve Martin is co-hosting this year, and that is worth seeing!

I haven't seen Avatar either, and have no desire to! I am watching to Oscars, though. My kitties hang out in the bathroom too- one loves to drink out of the toilet!

I only considered going to see Avatar when my Art Appreciation teacher said we could get extra credit for it. I love pilsbury cinnamon rolls! I love the Orange Danish rolls even more though, ever had em?

I like those instant Pilsbury cinnamon rolls too. You don't even have to grease the pan, and they come out great, and they have the yummy icing right in the package.

What's in that pineapple fried rice? I've been making my own version at least once a week since the time I told you I made up a recipe. Now I'm ready to branch out. I started adding about 3 tsp. sugar to my recipe because all the salt and savory ingredients tend to draw the sweetness out of the pineapple. A little sugar puts it back in. I use onions, shredded carrot, thai chile peppers, garlic, brown rice, tamari, bit of curry powder, canned pineapple tidbits, peanuts, and snow peas. I add the snow peas and pineapple bits last so they just get a little glazed but stay crunchy. I'm using just a little peanut oil to cook everything in. I use lots of salt because the cooked rice is unsalted.

Yours looks like it has broccoli. You've said it has tofu. What other ingredients, flavors, do you identify?

Happy birthday to Peanut! He's always there for you.

Bliss Doubt ~ In Qi's pineapple fried rice is egg, tofu, carrots, onion, I think tomato... and some sort of raisins too. And of course, pineapple! There's probably more ingredients, but that's all I can think of at the moment! Wild Ginger's is even more elaborate with avocados, protein powder, sunflower seeds, greens, etc. Oh, and there is broccoli in Wild Ginger's, but I don't think there's any in Qi's. All of the fried rice I get have tofu in it, but in the restaurants you get a choice of shrimp, chicken, etc. as well.
